I just purchased a HDTV and only have regular cable at this moment. I am using a TiVo Series 2. I will be going HDTV once I save up for a TiVo HD.
2 CommentsBut my question is, I watch most shows with the black bars on the left and right side, which is fine by me I would prefer the black bars rather than a distorted picture. But shows that are in wide screen have the black bars on the left and right, and the bars on the top and bottom. Since those shows are 16:9 how do I make the fit into my 16:9 TV? Is that possible? I don’t mind the bars, but when the show is 16:9 I would like that ratio on my TV without bars.

We just bought a Sony Bravia 42 inch LCD HDTV. Now when I watch the non-HD channels, it seems that the quality is worse than a regular TV. I see white grains in the background of the TV and the picture seems blurry on the edges. Should’ve I bought the Panasonic 42 inch Plasma HDTV?

its a hitachi 57 inch 57T500
the guy has had it for 4 years and uses it on a daily basis, said its just like new, bought it for 2300 and now wants 600 for it, for me i want longevity, hd, and play video games on it, so is this good

Dark picture using my DVD-player on my new flat-screen tv?

I’ve bought a new tv and i wanted to a DVD on it. So turned on my DVD-player using a scart stick, but the shadows were very dark. Some scenes were impossible to watch. My DVD-player haven’t got a HD-MI output, so i took my HD-MI stick and plugged it in my laptop and then i saw the DVD using my laptop as player. Then the picture was really good. Is it my TV, my DVD-player or the scart stick that *****? If i buy a DVD-player with HD-MI output, will it then be as good as when im using my laptop?

And I don’t mean the most expensive, top of the line. I need a pretty average screen size and a good overall value. Is LCD, HD, or tube the best? And what’s a reliable brand?
