Question for those who know about HD TVs?

i went to to 2 places which were best buy and RC Wiley, TV i want to get cost 1,800 plus all the other crap. whats with the differnce between all the series he keeps telling me about z, w d this and that what they all mean.
its a 40″ 120 HZ, 1080p, LCD HDTV it comes to 2076.71 with cables , warranty, stand. is this a good deal. should i buy

I watch TV shows on my itouch when it is in my iHome. but the shows always play horizontally, so i have to view them sideways. how can i make it so i dont have to do that??

Is there anyway to record tv with my laptop?

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FS850P/W laptop and was wondering if theres any special coard I can buy to hook it up to my television and record. I want to record Heroes tonight but wont be home, and I don’t own a VCR. and my damn Time Warner Cable DVR is acting funny and refusing to record.
Ooops cord not coard.

i want to watch local tv on a projector….. The projector is hanging from the ceiling so i ran a vga cable to my computer that’s about a hundred feet away…… wat can i connect to that vga so i can watch local tv….

How can i find out about upcoming shows in Japan?

I’m living in Osaka now, and the only source for finding out about upcoming shows that I know of is the Kansai Time Out and the Kansai Scene. But they often omit shows (like the Converge show last Monday), they don’t have a lot of info on local/independent/underground music and they only give info for shows up to about two months in advance. Does anyone know any good sources for finding info on shows coming to Japan?
