The sound on my parents big screen tv goes off and on on channels 11 and 13, but no other. What could it be?

I’m visiting them and its driving me nuts. They are oblivious. Their “solution” is to getting sound in the living room is to turn on the tv in their bedroom to the same channel and turn it up really loud. This is what old people do…omg… HELP!

Its a dish network, with a big screen Sony, and like I said, its only two channels where the sound is going in and out. What can it be?

This is an odd one. How is the audio connected to the TV? Are they using separate audio and video? Or are they using the RF cable?

My first reaction is that it’s a problem with the Dish Net feed because it’s happening on two channels and the rest seem to be OK. Since they have another TV in the bedroom, try hooking that up to the sat receiver and see if the problem continues. You might also want to unplug the sat receiver, count to 5, and plug it back in. They need to be rebooted occasionally.

If the reboot doesn’t help and the problem is happening with both sets, then you need to talk to Dish Net tech support. Don’t take no for an answer, either.

I hope this helps. Please return and select a Best Answer from all of those submitted.
